Umngazi Mouth (Pty) Ltd
P.O.Box 75
Port St. Johns
Wild Coast
5120

The Wild Coast may be South Africa’s most spectacular & yet least touristy region with it’s rocky coastline, indigenous forests, secluded coves and many river mouths. And all this is on your doorstep at Umngazi, an award winning family resort & spa. The thatch-roofed bungalows are situated amongst the indigenous gardens which provide the perfect setting for a totally relaxed holiday.

Spend idyllic days lounging on secluded beaches with only the waves crashing. Take a guided walk or strike on your own, explore the mangrove swamps, canoe up the river, myriad of birds and totally unspoiled natural beauty that this coastline has on offer.

Perched on the panoramic hillside of the Umngazi River mouth, overlooking the scenic splendour of the Wild Coast.
Bungalows are nestled amongst the kaleidoscopic fauna and flora that only the heart of Pondoland can offer.
Our guests choose from 5 categories of bungalows, all of which are individually furnished & tastefully decorated.

When you feel more alive, you also feel more hungry! So bring a healthy appetite.
Kick off the day with an unhurried River Breakfast as you loosely plan out another day filled with the sights and sounds of the hospitable Wild Coast. Later, sample our menu, which offers versatile meat dishes, fish so fresh it melts in your mouth and cracklingly good salads and veggies.
Oh, and feel free to make requests. Like everything else, our menu’s flexible and our chefs are always happy to try and meet your needs.

Activities at Umngazi
accommodationThe bungalows are great, but of course you may want to be out much of every day. You could spend the whole time dozing by our riverside pool, or hanging out at Basil’s Bar, where darts, snooker and tall stories make you feel like a regular in no time.

In our lofted hillside spa, we’re lucky enough to have dedicated, professional therapists, if you want your city stress to be massaged away – to the soundtrack of nothing but breakers and birdcalls.

Or you might find relaxation in other ways; in the gym, on the courts or with a long amble down our pristine beaches; as rich in shore life as most coastlines used to be. For parents in need of a break, our dedicated caregivers are always on hand, so leave the little ones with us and feel free to relive your early days of romance.

Fear not: Umngazi’s facilities include a number of well-appointed lounges and decks, ideal for board games and reading in a peaceful setting away from urban distractions – not to mention rain drops. Feel free to hang out anywhere that tickles takes your fancy, or hit the most popular spots:

  • Basil’s Bar (for darts, snooker, bar quizzes and very tall stories)
  • The Spa
  • The Gym

Our facilities
Our wide variety of facilities and services make Umngazi unique, flexible and uncompromisingly accommodating.

  • Our Creative Corner – a colourful and bright area designed to stimulate the creativity and imagination of your little Van Goghs and Henry Moores.
  • The Trampoline and Playground – always a fun outdoor option to keep children active and healthy while you bounce around on your own.
  • Children’s Dining Room (ages 5 years and under) – babies and toddlers can be fed in this special dining room outside of dining times, to fit in with your usual feeding routines. For you that means no mess, no fuss.
  • The Children’s TV Lounge – a cozy and relaxed area for kids to come together and enjoy some scheduled screenings of their favourite programmes (you know; loud, colourful, make no sense to adults).
  • Nanny Service – our wonderful local Pondo ladies offer their child-caring services at an hourly or daily rate, which ensures that you can relax in the comfort of knowing your child is in excellent, nurturing hands while you do…whatever you feel like.

Spa
If you’re feeling a little Honeymoonsrun down or merely require some personal pampering and indulgence, then we’d definitely recommend a visit to our professional spa.

Set high on the Umngazi hillside, with breathtaking views of the coast below, guests are treated to a secluded, tranquil experience, which is difficult to beat. Our dedicated, professional therapists are on hand with a full range of spa treatments and therapies. Each therapist’s treatment room is complimented by a private spa bath, which enjoys the same spectacular views of the beach and ocean. Feel free to drift off while you’re getting the royal treatment.

The Umngazi Spa is a member of SAAHSP (South African Association of Health & Skincare Professionals) & SASA (South African Spa Asssociation)

Umngazi orchestrates unforgettable romantic honeymoons and has earned a reputation as one of South Africa’s premier honeymoon destinations.
